چکیده

The Small Subgraph Conditioning Method has been used to study the almost sure existence and the asymptotic distribution of the number of regular spanning subgraphs of various types in random d -regular graphs. In this paper we use the method to determine the asymptotic distribution of the number of 3-star factors in random d -regular graphs for d ≥ 4.

3-star Factors in Random D-regular Graphs

The small subgraph conditioning method first appeared when Robinson and the second author showed the almost sure hamiltonicity of random d-regular graphs. Since then it has been used to study the almost sure existence of, and the asymptotic distribution of, regular spanning subgraphs of various types in random d-regular graphs and hypergraphs. In this paper, we use the method to prove the almos...

The locating-chromatic number for Halin graphs

Let G be a connected graph. Let f be a proper k -coloring of G and Π = (R_1, R_2, . . . , R_k) bean ordered partition of V (G) into color classes. For any vertex v of G, define the color code c_Π(v) of v with respect to Π to be a k -tuple (d(v, R_1), d(v, R_2), . . . , d(v, R_k)), where d(v, R_i) is the min{d(v, x)|x ∈ R_i}. If distinct vertices have distinct color codes, then we call f a locat...

On the Number of Spanning Trees in Random Regular Graphs

Let d > 3 be a fixed integer. We give an asympotic formula for the expected number of spanning trees in a uniformly random d-regular graph with n vertices. (The asymptotics are as n → ∞, restricted to even n if d is odd.) We also obtain the asymptotic distribution of the number of spanning trees in a uniformly random cubic graph, and conjecture that the corresponding result holds for arbitrary ...

Short Cycles in Random Regular Graphs

Consider random regular graphs of order n and degree d = d(n) ≥ 3. Let g = g(n) ≥ 3 satisfy (d− 1)2g−1 = o(n). Then the number of cycles of lengths up to g have a distribution similar to that of independent Poisson variables. In particular, we find the asymptotic probability that there are no cycles with sizes in a given set, including the probability that the girth is greater than g. A corresp...

D-Spectrum and D-Energy of Complements of Iterated Line Graphs of Regular Graphs

The D-eigenvalues {µ1,…,µp} of a graph G are the eigenvalues of its distance matrix D and form its D-spectrum. The D-energy, ED(G) of G is given by ED (G) =∑i=1p |µi|. Two non cospectral graphs with respect to D are said to be D-equi energetic if they have the same D-energy. In this paper we show that if G is an r-regular graph on p vertices with 2r ≤ p - 1, then the complements of iterated lin...
